The Association is a non-governmental and non-profit expert organization.
Today, it is a unique association in our country clustering technical, scientifitic and managerial knowledge, as well as practical experience relevant to the water. The association exists for 60 years in continuity on the territory of the former Yugoslavia with its headquarters situated in Belgrade. The Association for Water Technology and Sanitary Engineering was founded with the aim to unite scientifitic and expert public in the field of water (surface, subterranean, accumulations, seas, etc.), as well as in the field of environmental protection. The Association offers to its members an ability to broaden their expert and scientific knowledge, to exchange information and to have appropriate knowledge valorisation as well as the opportunity to influence on the public and to affect educational, economic, commercial, scientifitic and technological sustainable development of the country. The Association gathers and networks a large number of individuals, enterprises and institutions.

As the core sphere of activity is multidisciplinary (the Association gathers engineers of all profitiles: biologists, ecology experts, chemists, technologists, physicists, medical doctors and others), the Association is well appointed to provide assistance and solve the most complex problems by engaging the best experts in these fields within its membership.

The Association realizes its activities by publishing the scientifitic-expert magazine “Water and sanitary technique” in continuity for over 49 years, by providing expert consultations and organizing symposiums (over 260 until now), by editing special publications (over 210 titles), by issuing expert opinions for specifi c technical and environmental protection problems. These activities are also realized by participating in draffing numerous legally effective regulations, by prescribing rules and standards and by executing various other activities.
