Climate Change and the Energy Crisis – How to ensure sustainable business management of water utility companies

This year’s Water Forum is being held under the slogan: Sustainable business management of water utility companies.

Open discussions and reliable information are even more important when knowledge on the issue is not complete and context is changing.

Key topics of the Forum sessions will be: energy efficiency in water supply, protection of groundwater and surface water resources for drinking water supply, infrastructure and asset maintenance and management, as well as investments in the area of wastewater which have been launched in Serbia.

The more and more frequent extreme hydrological phenomena, draughts and floods, interfere with normal operations and security of water services. Besides energy and economic crisis, current risk matrices have become more complex and they require comprehensive solutions; and gathering forces on the road to the good- quality drinking water for all, towards healthier environment, clear brooks and rivers.

Impacts of climate and energy changes on water sector will be discussed from different angles, together with global economic changes and their consequences. In particular, discussions will take place on possible improvements of operations and sustainable business management of water utility companies in Serbia.

Third day of the Forum traditionally gathers young water professionals in the frame of YWP IWA Serbia, UTVSI section, under the auspices of the International Water Association – IWA.
